I know I’m projecting onto you. I had a friend named Patrick Prentice. He was dying of prostate cancer. We talked almost every day. He was the only man who understood me as a writer. On the phone I held his brave hand as he died. But I didn’t tell him everything.
Why I want to tell you.
Patrick, I am sure, was a better man than I. But I'm reading every word.
